Hmm 3.5 stars. I'm not sure I was entirely in the mood for this. I might want to read more from this author as a kind of rainy day back-up as all his books seem to be fairly short. It wasn't that it was gross or violent, it was just that it lacked depth. I've been down into the sex world of Japan before when I read Grotesque by Natsuo Kirino. Both looked at the shallow hypocrisy of society and both were quite dark and grim. In Miso Soup however felt more like a quick-fix version, lit up with neon lights.
