Lolita - Vladimir Nabokov The whole of this story could be summarised into two paragraphs (if not one) which would have been equally as entertaining, if not more, then reading the whole thing.

Too many useless words that don't contribute to anything. Very well put together words at that, but in the end, contributed to nothingness.

The characters were one sided, unreal and slightly boring. Lolita was nothing but a dirty doll-child.

Maybe it is because I am reading it in a time when things are sharper, grittier - this is fluffier, blurred and not very deep at all. We expect a deep psychological analysis of a paedophile.

In the end though, beautiful language it may be - there is no story, not real characters, no real nothing. A disappointment but at least I've read it.
